About Us

Indelicate's Meaning... At Indelicate Pitbull Rescue, we give abused and neglected pitbulls a chance at a better life. A life where they are not subjected to pain and heartache. We teach them what love is and we allow them the time to trust again. We work with pitbulls who are the breed who falls most victim to lack of sensitive understanding. There is nothing delicate that they have been through.

The Bond... The bond we have with these pitties are unique in every kind of way. We don't rescue to chaine them up again. Everyday, we go to each one at the kennels, give them time to run around and play on the field, give them treats, train them, comfort them. We work with everyone of them and everyone of them respects you, as long as you give them the respect they need.

The Trust... Indelicate Pitbull Rescue, rescues the type of pitties that are subjected to dog fighting, pitties that are chained up, starved, abused and neglected. We try our best to build their trust and most of all, we show them that human touch can represent love, care and affection.

Our Story

Indelicate Pit Bull Rescue ran a sub-branch in Cape Town for 3 years under Gudwulf's Pit Bull Rescue JHB (Registered as an NPC in 2016) We then, in Dec 2021, decided to break away and go on our own. Our Cape Town branch Born 26 March 2019 We take in abused, neglected, and confiscated Pit Bulls. We heal the broken and injured and then find them suitable forever homes. We also focus on educating the public on good, responsible dog ownership, focusing on different breed-specific traits and how to guide dogs through their short life journeys.

Education is key in successful human and dog co-habitation. Driven animal reactive Pits, Amstaffs and other Bull breeds take far longer to find suitable homes than any other breed. Our aim is to be able to soon own land and to create a facility that does not have cages, but a facility that is a home environment. Where each dog will have a “wendy-house” with heat lamps in winter and a little pool for summer. Each dog should have their very own piece of grass. Pit Bulls can wait up to 5 years, in the rescue system, to find a suitable home. They deserve to spend their waiting period in a comfortable, non-caged environment. We can only achieve this very big goal with the help of people out there. To see the work that we do, you can visit our Facebook Page for day-to-day happenings at Indelicate.

Donations: (food, food bowls, water bowls, cleaning chemicals, tick and flea treatment) will result in us being able to give the dogs, that spend a few years of their lives in our care, a home environment and to make sure they have all the comforts that they would have in a family home. It will assist us in taking in more Pit Bulls and Pit type dogs, as there currently is a very big void in the Pit Bull rescue scene. There are far too many of these dogs in need and normal rescue facilities simply can't safely keep the breed. The situation is dire.

"As the Founder of Indelicate Pitbull Rescue, Rehabilitating Pitbull’s is a passion and a life long dream. I am privileged to rescue and care for these dogs back to health on a daily basis. I established a personal bond with every dog at Indelicate to determine the way forward. Sometimes they are found in bad conditions and getting them back to good health is priority for us at Indelicate, sometimes some might be in need of special care and working with them takes time and patience. Our goals at Indelicate is straightforward, although not always easy, if in need of medical attention, get them to a Vet, then a clean and warm place to sleep, and also making sure they have regular meals everyday. We are proud to make a difference in these dogs' life and each one has a special place at Indelicate."

"As a family, we started feeding and rescuing dogs in the township in order to rehabilitate and rehome as we could. This we did in our own small way as part of our daily lives. My children grew up being aware of this and advocating for suffering dogs. One day, we picked up an emaciated pitbull and took him home. Unknowingly he had contracted a fatal disease in the township, but we still tried to show him the love and joy that he never experienced in his life before. We tried our very best to save him, but the disease was too far gone and we lost him. This dog, Kenah, changed our lives. My eldest son decided to study Veterinary Science because of how Kenah inspired him. Furthermore, I lost my job due to Covid and started volunteering at Gudwulfs because I couldn't stay away from these beautiful animals. I was humbled by how they allowed me in their space. Ciel-Marie noticed me and I am still part of the team."

Sponser

Sponser

Our dogs need sponsors. Every single month just gets harder and harder. Many in rescue say the exact same thing. Sponsor one (or more) of our Pits. We need R35 000 a month to cover rent, food, fuel, 3 kennel hand salaries and parasite control. We aren't getting halfway there. No rent = no place for these dogs to go. No food = we'll rather put them down than let them starve. No parasite control = they will get sick. If they get sick = no funds for vetting. R750 per month per dog is just to cover the basics. But so many people are eager to ask you to help, but have no intention of helping back with any kind of way. It's a sad state of affairs. Please change your way of reasoning. It will only help pull the entire rescue ship in SA along and in doing so, benefit animals.
